Where to begin....
The story was unique, I've never read a book that deals with the fashion world, so I was captivated by the details surrounding the trade. The author seems to know what she's talking about!
The characters were strong, I even enjoyed the supporting role of Taddy...she was fierce & sassy, I loved her mouth!
First up, Lex Easton: Daughter of the late rock 'n' roll legend Eddie Easton and owner of the fashion empire Easton Essentials. She's a busy gal, sexually frustrated, and will stop at nothing to get what she wants!
Prince Massimo Tittoni, heir to the House of Tittoni dynasty and CEO of Girasoli Garment Company. Paparazzi magnet and sex-god, well endowed and knows how to use it! Il mio bel Principe
I enjoyed the story but there were just a few hang-ups that I had.
The tension is so thick I can almost taste it, there's no denying that there's something between these two...but it almost takes over the story. I love sex and erotica as much as the next, but I felt like a good chunk of the story became overrun with sex. She was making decisions based on the idea of using him for a casual sex arrangement and all she could think about was getting laid. Normally, I don't mind a good sex scene but even the dialogue in the story turned me off. Lex was sometimes shy and insecure but other times she was vulgar and crude, and her dialogue was a little contradicting to her personality.
Another thing, and I'm not sure how to word this, is that the dialogue and sex didnt match up with the story that the author was trying to convey. It read more like a porn, the way Lex always thought about his you know what, or how bad she needed to get laid. The sexual nature of the story took over and it became less and less about the fashion industry and more about how many times she'd orgasm. I can appreciate a good erotic novel but I enjoy more of the sensual erotic when it comes to romance novels. I don't need hardcore sex that reads more like a porn than a romance novel...except for when thats the point of the story ;)
There's certainly something about the two characters, I get their physical attraction but I was slightly annoyed when the first four letter word declaration was made, we're talking days people, not weeks or even months. I understand the notion of 'love at first sight' but that wasn't hinted at all throughout the book until the first person dropped the "L" bomb. Then all of a sudden it's like, they were both on the "L" train and headed towards their HEA, in no time flat!
So basically I thought the sexual connotation of the story was a little forced. BUT I liked the characters and storyline. Lex was witty and she had some classic phrases, especially when it came to her inner monologue. The Prince was a charmer and definitely a romantic, how could I not love him? There were parts I wish were longer, and parts I wished were shorter...but I still enjoyed the story.
**I was asked to read this story in exchange for an honest review!**
